Week #1

A week ago we set off for our first stop on our adventure. We didn't leave until almost 10pm, and then stopped to sleep for a few hours at a truck stop right before the Virginia/North Carolina border. The next day we got up and finished our drive. About 8 miles from the campground Jesse's Mustang shut off, so we let it sit a few hours to cool down, and has been fine since.

The past week has been spent organizing Mom and Dad's camper, working on finishing mine, and exploring as much as possible. It's only about a 4 mile drive or so to the beach, so that's definitely a perk! Jax got to have his first beach experience, and was scared of the water at first.

Yesterday, Jesse and I got our kayaks out and tried to take Jax kayaking, he wasn't much for it. He liked to stay swimming and playing in the water near the dock. Later, after I took him back to the camper and kayaked farther out towards another strip of land, I decided it was a good thing that he wasn't up for kayaking, because I saw a stingray swimming in the shallow water.

The first week has been rough, but it's kind of nice being somewhere new and not knowing a single person. I miss my friends like crazy, can't have any late-night Sheetz hangouts down here! I've definitely needed this experience, though.

Being farther South now everybody has the Cali lean on their trucks and there is a Piggly Wiggly right down the road. There's a military base closeby, so it's normal to see tanks driving down the road or helicopters flying low to the campers.

Here's to hoping week two is even better than week one :)
